How Do I Choose a Rustic Wedding Venue Near Spokane, Washington?
There are many wedding venues conveniently situated north of Spokane, with an especially high concentration in the Deer Park area. My wife and I have lived, camped, swam, played, worked, and raised our family in northeastern Washington our entire lives. We are blessed to live in such a majestic area.
Recently, we built W10 Venue, which is located 30 minutes north of Spokane and 10 minutes north of Deer Park proper. I always encourage couples to spend time looking at different venues to find exactly the type of feel or vibe they want. Don’t make a knee-jerk booking decision, and never feel pressured by anyone.
There are many fantastic venues in the area, and each one has characteristics that are unique to itself. The job of the bride and groom is to find the venue that provides the feel and experience they need and want.

Before a couple considers booking a venue, they need to make sure they can relate to and do business with the owners or whoever they will primarily be communicating with.
If the couple doesn’t feel comfortable with the owner or manager, I recommend looking at another venue. Each venue owner brings unique experiences and personality to their venue. Consider your first tour somewhat of an interview.
Is the owner personable, honest, clear, relatable, supportive, accommodating, hospitable, and understanding?
Read the reviews and look for comments about how previous couples were treated. My dad doesn’t shop at a certain hardware store because, as he puts it, “They make me feel like they’re doing me a favor by selling to me.” How do the owners make you feel. Were they clear, did they answer your questions, were they pushy... Find the right owner just as you’re looking to find the right venue. The two go hand in hand.
2. Consider the Scenery
The scenery is another important characteristic to consider when choosing a rustic wedding venue.
Let the venue itself speak and answer this question:
Will this venue give me the landscape and setting I want to enjoy on my wedding day?
Think about it like your bedroom or office space. Each of those spaces makes you feel a certain way. Does the landscape of this venue make you feel the way you want to feel on your wedding day?
Look for landscape and scenery photos in the venue’s website gallery. Can you see yourself in those photos? Do they have the feel or vibe that you want? Are they authentic or AI generated?
When you’re looking at the venue property, do you see too many homes or other structures that could influence the scenery and overall feel of your wedding?
3. Pay Attention to the Photo Opportunities
Photography is my third recommended consideration when looking for a rustic wedding venue near Spokane.Venue owners will naturally show you their favorite photos on their website. We all choose those photos carefully. However, you can often learn a lot simply by being logical when looking through a venue’s website.Are there multiple photo locations, or are the scenery photographs limited to a handful of areas?This is important. When you scan the photo gallery, do you see wedding photos taken in more than three to five locations? Photographers often look for that golden-hour photo opportunity. Does the venue offer that early-evening sunlight that can create beautiful photographs?
If you have access to a photographer, I’d even ask them what they think about the photo opportunities simply by viewing the venue’s website. They have keen eyes!
If you decide to go on a tour, can the venue owner clearly explain where the prime photo locations are on the property?
As you walk the property during your tour, let your eyes wander and brainstorm potential picture locations:

You may be surprised by how many different photo opportunities you can find when you take the time to look intently! Remember your guests will enjoy the scenery to.

Since you’re looking for a rustic venue, more than likely you’re interested in an outdoor setting. If your wedding is outdoors, look for a venue that gives you some flexibility to make the space fit your vision.
Most of us who enjoy the outdoors like it because we see something new and exciting each time we visit
the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Of course, every venue has limitations, but look for room within those limits to create the space you want.
You have a vision in your head for your wedding. You’re going to have to compromise on some things, but the majority of your vision should be able to become reality.
Ask yourself:
Do the venue’s limitations still allow me the flexibility to customize the space to meet my expectations?
